If you’re planning a trip to Marrakech and love good food, beautiful design and a bit of magic, make sure to book a table at Les Jardins du Lotus. It’s one of my absolute favourite places in the city—and not just because of the food or interior, but because of the memories it holds for me.

The very first time I visited, I was enchanted from the start. Two kind gentlemen guided me through the narrow alleyways of the Medina. As we walked, it felt almost cinematic—a mystery unfolding with every step. We reached a dark entrance with old, heavy doors, and as they opened, I suddenly found myself in a glowing courtyard filled with twinkling lights, lush greenery and soulful music. It was everything people say it is: a true hidden gem.

Les Jardins du Lotus – A Hidden Gem to Eat, Drink and Unwind in Marrakech

The courtyard is surrounded by cosy seating, a spectacular bar with pink tiles, and interiors that perfectly balance Moroccan tradition with playful, modern design. The atmosphere is chic but relaxed, and the staff are always so kind. I had a cocktail made with passion fruit as an apéritif that night—sweet, tangy and unforgettable.

That night also turned into something I’ll never forget for a very different reason: it was the evening of the earthquake in September 2023. I had just left the restaurant when a wall behind me collapsed. Not from the restaurant itself, thankfully, but it was a terrifying experience—especially because I was alone.

A few months later, I returned to Les Jardins du Lotus to check in and ask how everyone was doing. They welcomed me with so much warmth and kindness. It was emotional to be back, but it also felt healing. Since then, I make a point of going back—sometimes for lunch, sometimes just for a drink. It’s become a little ritual, and a place that holds deep meaning for me.
